Bishop’s Cleeve Rotary
Supporting our community locally, nationally and internationally.
Supporting our community locally, nationally and internationally.
Active locally, we aim to make a difference to people’s lives, to discover needs and adopt causes not otherwise served, and to have fun in working together on community projects.
Rotary, however, delivers more: as a national and worldwide organization it works in partnership with charities and world leaders such as with the Gates Foundation to eradicate polio, it sets priorities in community and for the environment, and, for us, it’s members, it offers experiences and learning that may be life changing.
Membership is affordable and simple to access.
Supporting Bishop’s Cleeve is of paramount importance to us. Whether supporting young people to develop skills throughout our Young Rotary Scheme or finding ways to support the elderly we believe in giving back to our local area.
Helping young people and those disadvantaged is a key objective, and often best served in a family setting.
We have provided games and competitions at the Jubilee and Family Fun Day events and 2022 will see our second Christmas Grotto at the Green. Santa and Sleigh will be about, too.
We are supporting Gloucester Young Carers and recently the Pump Track project.
For 2023 we will expand our program of Youth competitions, such as Young Chef, Youth Debates, Music, Technology…working in partnership with local schools.
Exciting times ahead.
Bishop’s Cleeve Rotary aim to support and offer care for both the young and the elderly people in our village.
Our young people need to be supported to develop their skills, unlock their potential and ensure that they have the best opportunities to lead a safe and healthy life as they study and prepare for their future. We will work with local schools, to promote for example, high achiever award schemes.
Our older villagers need to feel respected and we are there to identify and respond to their needs.
We will be able to support local care homes as needs are identified.
Our projects will raise funds which will be used to further the aims of supporting children and the older members of our community.
Bishop’s Cleeve has grown over the years and continues to thrive. This brings new opportunities for businesses and residents alike as well as a number of challenges.
We are looking to support environmental initiatives in the local community.
Our priority overall is on local causes but we also look to help others around the world. The Rotary Foundation funds major health and environmental projects and helps with Disaster Relief, recently Beirut, Ukraine and Pakistan. Our Club contributes to this international charity.
This year working with other local Clubs we raised £27,000 at the races for Ukraine, collected computer equipment in Cleeve for IT Schools Africa and the Mile of Coins for Polio when Cleeve Primary school raised a significant sum.
We are considering now an international project for 2023.
